MADAM, Plastic bags are great for hygiene - do not get rid of them. Two months ago I caught norovirus at Hereford County hospital. How I wished people were more hygienic. Out in the country on the farm in 66 years I've never seen a plastic bag out of place, though I have seen one or two Chinese lanterns. Plastic bags are a problem on trunk roads just stuck in the hedge or fence. They want a vac lorry really. So keep plastic bags. They are great for hygiene. Alfred Wood, Llangrove
