A HEREFORDSHIRE-BASED housing provider has raised more than £46,000 for Dementia UK following a year of determined fundraising.
Platform Housing Group staff rallied behind the cause throughout 2024, raising a total of £46,005.67 for the specialist dementia nursing charity. Their efforts were supported by match funding from the organisation’s Board.
The total was achieved through a variety of fundraising activities, from 200-mile cycling challenges and skydives to bake sales, coffee mornings, and craft fairs – with many staff going the extra mile to support the cause.
Clare Durnin, chief people and excellence officer at Platform, praised the enthusiasm of staff: “We are so proud of what our colleagues have achieved this year. Dementia UK is a cause that resonates with so many of us and the effort people have put in – whether taking on a physical challenge or organising local events – has been amazing to see.”
Daisy Wilson, corporate partnership lead at Dementia UK, said the funds would help deliver vital support: “We’re grateful to everyone at Platform Housing Group for their fundraising efforts over the past year. It’s been great to see people take on a host of challenging activities, each of which will help us reach more families affected by dementia through our specialist Admiral Nurses, offering life changing practical and emotional support.”
Dementia UK offers free access to specialist nurses who provide guidance and reassurance to families affected by dementia. Around 944,000 people in the UK are currently living with the condition, including 70,800 with young onset dementia.
Platform Housing Group, which owns and manages around 50,000 homes across the Midlands, has now announced its corporate charity for the next year will be the NSPCC.
The children's charity supports some of the most vulnerable young people across the UK through services such as Childline, school programmes, and support for families in crisis.
