A recent visit to the Orchard Trust’s Stowfield Activity Park, by a group of residents from Hazelhurst, Ross-on-Wye, part of Herefordshire Care Homes, proves that you are never too old to have fun.

Stowfield Activity Park is set in the beautiful Wye Valley, on the borders of Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Monmouthshire. The group were treated to afternoon tea and cake before being introduced to some of the animals on the smallholding by manager, Phill Hucks.

There were plenty of cuddles with a baby Pygmy goat and a guinea pig whilst the flock of friendly sheep, Millie the pig, the chickens and ducks were viewed from the wheelchair accessible pathways that meander through the site.

The visit ended at the newly installed activity park where one lady aged 103, with support, happily accessed the roundabout and trampoline in her wheelchair.

The site is accessible to everyone free of charge regardless of age or ability. Donations towards the upkeep are welcome.

To visit please call Phill or George on 01594 861359 to book a date. Visits can be tailored to meet individual needs. See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
