In 2018 the boundaries for parliamentary constituencies are due to change. Locally, if the proposals go ahead as suggested there will not be much change to the borders of Hereford and South Herefordshire, currently held by MP Jesse Norman. However, proposals to the North Herefordshire seat, currently held by MP Bill Wiggin, could mean that it merges with South Shropshire or could even disappear.

The Boundary Commission shake-up will reduce the number of MPs across the country to 600, at the moment there are 650. The Commission decided to group all of the counties of Herefordshire, Shropshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands, and Worcestershire in one sub-region with a total electorate of just under 3.174 million, to which they allocated 42 constituencies, which is five fewer than at present.

The Hereford and South Herefordshire seat will be extended to include the three Herefordshire district wards of Backbury, Credenhill, and Hagley, which are all close to the City of Hereford.

The villages of Mordiford and Fownhope will also become part of this constituency.
