I have been honoured to be the MP here since 2010.
In that time I have helped to bring in over £100M of public investment to the county, including £23M to replace the hutted wards at the County Hospital, a further £23M for the new university project, and £30M+ for fast broadband.
My approach has always to be as engaged, as positive and as energetic as possible on behalf of local people.
In Ross, I am delighted to say the next phase of fast broadband is about to go live. But over the years I have also worked to support Ross Hospital, and such organisations as the Community Garden, Friends of St Mary’s, HOPE, Ross Action and the Community Larder.
This summer I helped persuade Highways England to reschedule their works on the A49 to the night time. And only this week I helped secure £1M in public money to help the Council support victims of flooding.
Gazette readers will have read of the Government’s large new investment in policing, much of which will be targeted on reducing crime and anti-social behaviour, especially related to drugs. They will have seen our commitment to reduce emissions to Net Zero, and to replace the basic farm payment with funding to promote air, water and soil quality and biodiversity.
For Ross, we need the Council to complete the Model Farm development. But not just that: we need a new investment package for the town, so that it can realise its full, astonishing, potential.
