Hundreds of anti-fracking protesters gathered outside Gloucestershire Shire Hall, on Thursday, September 4th, to demonstrate their strength of feeling to the County Councillors.

Approximately 200 protesters turned up to peacefully protest outside Gloucestershire County Council’s planning committee meeting.

The planning committee were not voting on whether to approve a fracking licence in Thursday’s meeting, but the group believe it is best to begin campaigning early, and gain the support of the County Councillors before it is too late.

The Forest of Dean, along with the Wye Valley, is currently one of the areas in the UK which is under consideration for fracking in the future; one of the licence block boundaries includes villages in the Forest of Dean, as well as nearby villages in Herefordshire, such as Whitchrch, Marstow, Goodrich, Kerne Bridge, and Symonds Yat. Ross-on-Wye would fall within the 10K potential zone of impact.
