Councillor David Ravenscroft was unanimously selected to be the new Mayor of Ross-on-Wye, at the Full Meeting of Ross Town Council, on Monday, May 9th.

Cllr Ravenscroft thanked the members of the Council for electing him to be Mayor. He said that he has not yet selected a chosen charity, but he said that by the Mayor Making Ceremony on June 6th, he plans to have named the Mayor’s Chosen Charity.

The outgoing Mayor of Ross, Cllr Colin Gray said:?“Thank you to the people who have made it possible for me to represent the town. It’s been a very busy two years for myself and the Mayoress, representing Ross inside and outside of the county.” He thanked his fellow Councillors, the Town Council admin staff, Reverend Sarah Jones, Rector of St Mary’s Church, and the Mayoress, Anne Gray.

For the deputy Mayor of Ross, Cllr Colin Gray proposed that Cllr Nigel Gibbs should fill the position. Cllr Chris Bartrum proposed Cllr Craig Morgan. There was a vote. Nine members of the Council voted in favour of Cllr Gibbs, and eight members voted for Cllr Morgan. The Mayor abstained from the vote, so Cllr Gibbs was elected as the deputy.

Members were then chosen for the new committees. For the Finance and Personnel Committee, Cllrs Jane Roberts, Julian Gren, Harry Bramer, Chris Bartrum and Phil Cutter were selected. Cllr Roberts and Cllr Gren were both nominated to be the Chair. After a vote, Cllr Gren won, nine votes to eight.

For the Management and Policy Committee, Cllrs Chris Bartrum, Harry Bramer, Phil Cutter, Caroline Utting and Richard Mayo were selected. Again, two Councillors were nominated to be Chairman of the Committee, Cllrs Bramer and Bartrum. Cllr Bramer won by nine votes to eight.

For the Amenities Committee (formerly known as the ‘Open Spaces’ Committee), Cllrs Richard Mayo, Hannah Lerego, Caroline Bennett, Daniel Lister and Valerie Coker were selected. Cllr Mayo was appointed as the Chairman.

For the Events Committee, Cllr Hannah Lerego, Cllr Caroline Bennett, Cllr Daniel Lister, Cllr Richard Mayo and Cllr Jenny Hyde were selected. Cllr Lerego was selected as the Chair of the group.

For the Planning and Development Committee, Cllrs Daniel Lister, Chris Bartrum, Colin Gray, Jo Jennings and Caroline Utting were selected. Cllr Lister was chosen as the Chairman.
