Several local residents, including Town Councillors, Caroline Utting, Chris Bartrum and Jane Roberts are angry that their posters calling for Britain to remain part of the European Union have been removed, in the run-up to the referendum on Thursday, June 23rd.

Ross-on-Wye Town Councillor Chris Bartrum has organised the obtaining and erection of many of the posters and he told the Ross Gazette that there had been several incidents of vandalism and theft.

He said that posters had been taken down in Alton Street, Merrivale, Archenfield and Eastfield Road, as well as at other locations around the town.

He added that he he is constantly supplying new posters to those who want to show their support for the Remain campaign.

Another resident told the Ross Gazette that his poster had been ’up and down like a yoyo’ and thought it was very disappointing.

Town Councillor Jane Roberts added that some of the posters are in the gardens of elderly people. She said: "This is very worrying." And Councillor Caroline Utting said: "This referendum is about democracy and freedom of expression and whoever is doing this should have more regard for these values."
