MADAM, I am the Education Officer for Western Power Distribution, the electricity distributor for the Midlands, South West & South Wales. It is my job to coordinate school safety visits and events across the Midlands region, to educate children about electricity safety.

We recently launched the Power Discovery Zone, a website created to help teachers educate young people about the dangers of electricity when they are out and about, potentially playing near substations and overhead lines.

I saw the comments in the Gazette View in the Ross Gazette on Wednesday, November 14th, about educating our children and wanted to bring your attention to our resource.

During the recent launch of our website, we ran a competition which was won by a local school – Pauntley Primary. I visited the school this week to present them with their certificate and tell them all about the prize, and took our safety character, Pylonman, along with me.
