A church in Ross-on-Wye that was placed on an 'at risk’ register has been given £101,000 for ‘urgent structural repairs and re-ordering’.

Marstow residents are celebrating a Heritage Lottery Fund grant for their Grade II listed St Matthew’s Church.

It was put on the Historic England ‘At Risk’ Register in February, 2017, but now the Heritage Lottery Fund money aims to protect it for future generations.

The church will stay open during the work for the regular service at 9.30 am on the first Sunday of every month and Communion at 9.30 am every third Sunday. Special Services, Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals will also be accommodated.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
