The Easter break has been a busy time at Tudorville District & Community Centre with improvements to the play area, freshly painted railings and new goal posts and basketball goals.
There will be an official launch of the improved play area on Saturday, April 13th at 2pm with free refreshments and a bouncy castle. Everyone is welcome to come along and join in the fun.
The goal posts have arrived after years of local children pleading for them thanks to a £2,000 grant from The People's Patch.
The galvanised steel posts were made by local steel fabricator A J Lowther & Sons, with special thanks to Richard Smith for his hard work on these. TDCC are very grateful to Sam Perry and Alan Kings who kindly volunteered their time to install the posts, with help from Stephen Hall and Kevin Scotford. Thanks are also due to Brandon Hire for lending the tools required to install the posts free of charge.
Michelle Kings, Treasurer of TDCC said:?"The generosity of these local business means we could install the posts at a relatively low cost, ensuring other funds raised could go towards new play equipment. This is another example of the local community coming together to provide a valuable asset which will benefit current and future generations."
The painstaking task of refurbishing the railings around the Tudorville & District Community Centre (TDCC) has been carried out by offenders as part of the Community Payback scheme. The work involved digging out the bottom of the railings, sanding them down painting them with undercoat and then giving them a final coat of green paint.
Chairman of the TDCC, Councillor Colin Gray, arranged for the West Mercia Probation Community Payback Scheme to carry out the work as a way offenders can make amends for the crimes they have committed.
This is a long term project as a lot of labour is involved. Community Payback has completed 10 sessions so far, often in very cold weather, with an average six men a session. There are about four more sessions to go to complete the project.
