Residents of Sellack are putting together a display of local history, reminiscences and memorabilia for the Sellack WW1 Armistice Centenary Celebration on September 22nd. Their goal is to connect the community now with the community of Sellack 100 years ago, and to remember the men on the Sellack War Memorial.
There will be a display in Sellack Village Hall for people to view throughout the afternoon. The event itself will start with some entertainment reminiscent of the era in the Village Hall, followed by a short ceremony of rededication at the Sellack War Memorial and concludes with afternoon tea back in the Village Hall.
They would like to include as much content from local people as possible, in both the display and the entertainment, particularly any reminisces or stories from local people and families of the men on the memorial. Any families of men on the Sellack War Memorial who would like to take part or contribute to the event can contact Sarah Aitken on: [email protected] or 01989 765579. Anyone who has WW1 era stories, history or memories of Sellack or their family, please contact Emma on 01989 762839. Anyone who has local WW1 era memorabilia they would be happy to lend to the display please contact Carole on 01989 565562 to arrange collection at a convenient time.
