Unexpected snow has arrived all over areas of Herefordshire and the Forest of Dean. Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service have warned that even in areas without snow, residents need to be careful when travelling because of the wet conditions.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We are advised that snow is falling on top of Fromes Hill and there is significant coverage. This road, and other roads at altitude are likely to be slippy. Please take extra care."
The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning in the West Midlands for the morning of Thursday, March 4th, and also a yellow weather warning for Wales, reporting that some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.
A spokesperson for Whitchurch Fire Station said: "We have snow on the higher ground around our area. The lower levels are wet so take extra care on the roads today!"Herefordshire Council were out gritting through the night of Wednesday, March 3rd, and and are spot treating the worst parts of the network through Thursday, March 4th. A Council spokesperson said: "Allow extra time for your journey and increase the distance between you and the vehicle in front. Maintain a 10-second gap in icy/snowy conditions.
