Former Postman, James Weatherhead, is busy training for the second event in his fundraising year for the Herefordshire Poppy Appeal. Last October James took part in the Cardiff half marathon but on Sunday, March 12th he will rev up his running at the iconic Silverstone race circuit.
This half marathon is a unique event which brings top distance athletes, as well as plenty of fun runners, on to the Formula One circuit.
James’ fundraising total is currently at £211 and he is hoping for more donations as he takes on this latest challenge. There will be sponsor forms at various locations in Ross. He told the Ross Gazette: "I am never likely to drive around Silverstone but I am determined to race around it and hope to finish in under two hours.”
James’ year of fundraising for the Herefordshire Poppy Appeal began in October 2016 and will finish in October 2017, later this year he hopes to take part in the Herefordshire Marathon to raise funds for the British Legion and St Michael’s Hospice.
