The River Wye is set to be star of a new television programme showing this evening, Monday, January 8th, on BBC One Wales at 7.30pm.

The River Wye runs for nearly 140 miles from the wild mountains of mid Wales to the vast Severn Estuary, on the way creating one of the most beautiful valleys in the world.

For writer and angler Will Millard, rivers are where he feels most at home - and in this three-part series he’s exploring the whole length of the waterway named Britain’s favourite river a few years ago.

After finding the source, up in the wilds of Plynlimon in the Cambrian Mountains, Will meets a local farmer, spends night in a bothy and visits the Elan Dam.

Ross-on-Wye, will of course be making an appearance, during the series Will Millard will be seen at last year’s Ross Regatta, and with a local artist Anthony Avery. Anthony was able to put all his talents into action when he was selected to take the presenter out for a painting lesson reminiscent of the early days of tourism in the Wye Valley.

Anthony told the Gazette at the time, that it was amazing to be walking in the footsteps of such creative masters. He said that Will was a good student and the session went well.

The series will be shown over three weeks starting today, and Ross will probably feature in the third programme.
