Madam, I am writing in response to the article in last week's Gazette regarding the new Roman Way playground.

I feel sorry for the lady who has been so upset at the siting of the equipment but feel this should not overshadow what will be a fantastic new play area for local children.

Even in its current, unfinished state, the equipment is in almost constant use, not only by the 8-13 year olds for whom it is designed, but by those much younger.

People so often complain about young people "hanging about" and behaving badly. Here I have seen nothing but good behaviour from the young people who use the equipment.

Yes, they are full of energy and are noisy and playful but they also share the equipment well with younger children and as someone whose house also overlooks the play area, I have never seen or heard anything to cause worry or alarm.

I really hope that a resolution can be found to the concerns of this one lady without resorting to the financial cost (to the Council/us, the taxpayer) of having to dig up and move this equipment.

Mrs S Punn, Ross
