Ross produced a display of maturity and character to defeat a very determined Westfields and run out worthy winners, 3-0.

The early pressure came from Ross as they settled into their accustomed fluent flowing football. Chris and James(D) held the centre of midfield with Jake(W) and David providing the craft out wide. James(R) was strong but outnumbered and needed support.

Ollie in the holding midfield role was first to the tackle and kept their playmaker out of the game. Westfields played their part and the game was tight with chances at a premium.

Chris forced a save, Jake(W) went close and James(D) saw a super effort just wide. Jacob and Joel linked well at the heart of the defence with Jake(C) and Sam closing down the pacey attackers. Kieran(B) was again assured. A period of sustained pressure from Ross resulted in a throw-in.

The throw was knocked on by James(D) and Chris guided the ball wide of the keeper for the opening goal. In almost a repeat performance a long throw rebounded to James(D) in space who beat two players and instinctively placed the ball out of the keepers reach to make it 2-0.

The second half saw the game getting more fractious but Ross maintained their composure and with it the momentum. The Westfields pattern of play was predictable and Ross defended in numbers.

Liam, Alex, Kieran(R) and Billy came on to good effect and Kieran(B) produced a good save to his left. Ross forced a corner, James(R) headed-on and James(D) the consummate finisher struck the ball expertly to score the third.

Westfields pushed forward and despite a sustained period of pressure failed to unlock the Ross defence with strong performances from Jacob, Jake(C) and Chris.

Ross produced a superb disciplined display to beat a determined and committed Westfields team. The man of the match award went to James(D) for his instinct positioning and skillful finishing.
