THE British sprit or ‘carrying on regardless’ was evident at Community Hospital in Ross, when all fete activities moved inside due to the prospect of inclement weather.
The fete organisers, The Friends of Ross Hospital said it was pleased to have made the decision to move indoors, as the predicted heavy rain did appear.
The Friends were supported by numerous groups who set up stalls in the corridors, side rooms and other larger meeting and waiting rooms.
The nursing staff provided cakes, while the occupational therapy team hosted a plant stall. The physiotherapy team gave a demonstration of wobble boards while Ross Lions- provided the fete with several games and Ross Rotary provided a vintage bagatelle game.
The Friends’ committee provided the other fete staples of books, bric-a-brac, teas and a raffle.
The musicians from Ross Town Band performed in the hospital’s reception area. Hospital patients could hear the band and some were also able to view from the upstairs windows- some patients were also brought down to view the fete.
The fete raised in excess of £800 and the Friends’ committee are very grateful to all who attended and spent their money.
Sarah Rogers, the hospital’s ward manager said: “What a fantastic afternoon the fete turned out to be. I really enjoyed myself, it was good to see so many people and children getting involved with the games.
“Despite the threat of rain and a few showers, we had an impressive turn out. The physiotherapy team also provided fitness challenge games for the public to try.
“The nursing team from the wards baked and manned a cake stall. Thank you to all those that came and supported the event.”
The fete was supported by the Morrisons store in Ross; The Fairview Gardener; The Engine Shed; Leaf Creative Garden Centre and the Community Gardens in Ross.
