Ross Juniors were back in league action this weekend keen to bring an end to their losing streak. Ross started very brightly and took the lead in the first ten minutes, despite some delightful football early on. Andy Francis clinically put the ball past sporting Salmon's keeper. Ten minutes later and Ross were two up when Chris Davies capitalised on some suspect goal keeping to calmly hit the net. Despite a dominant and relatively comfortable first half Ross managed to concede and give salmon a glimpse of hope but fortunately after another ten minutes Davies chalked his fifth goal in two games. Joe Loftus added Ross's fourth goal in the first half, when his low strike snuck under Salmon's giant keepers body. Salmon pulled another goal back just before half time to make it 4-2.
Ross are prone to conceding early in the second half and only a wonder save from drafted in Keeper Ian Jenkins, who performed very well despite not playing for over six months, his distribution throughout the game was fantastic. Ben Hall was denied only by a poor referee's decision when his 50 yard missile charged strike hit a combination of the cross bar and post before bouncing out of the goal.
Matthew Burton was introduced at right wing back half way through the second half, he provided real width and produced some very dangerous crosses.
Juniors finally buried the game beyond all doubt as Bobby Hatch confidently made it five with a right footed strike then 15 minutes before the end Andy Francis netted his second of the match.
Throughout the whole game Captain Sam Loftus was unbeatable in the air and relentless with his trademark crunching tackles enough to claim Charlie's bar man of the match. Debutant Paul Flitney who was called up at short notice was introduced at the back and slotted in nicely.
Salmon's number 12 added another consolation goal, which was unfortunate as goal difference could be needed to separate them and main rivals Welsh club at the end of the season.
Other notable performances came from another debutant George Selwyn Jones who filled in confidently at the back and Ted Loftus who played some really classy stuff, with countless slick flicks and turns.
As ever Junior's brought travelling fans and they easily outnumbered the home support.
