Before a line-up of mayors from neighbouring towns, the Mayor of Ross, Councillor John Edwards, and the Town Councillors pledged to serve the town at Sunday's Civic service.
The proceeds of the collection at the service went to the Mayor's charity, Macmillan Nurses. Alexander Pope's poem which made John Kyrle famous as the Man of Ross was read by the Mayoress, Sue Edwards, and Joyce Thomas MBE DL read from the Book of Revelation about a "new Jerusalem". The Reverend Sarah Jones spoke about the presence of God in towns, cities and villages, saying the chimes of St Mary's clock serve to remind everyone of this.
