Last week officers from West Mercia Police arrested 10 people, including Nigel Powell, aged 51, of Hom Green, Ross, and Stephen James Jones, 54, of Broad Street, Ross. They later charged seven of those arrested, including Powell and Jones, in an investigation into the smuggling of drugs into the UK potentially worth hundreds of millions of pounds.

The arrests took place across the West Midlands region as well as in The Netherlands as part of an operation into the importation of cannabis, amphetamines and MDMA, the main constituent of Ecstasy. Full report in this week's Gazette.
