More businesses in Ross-on-Wye have recently recieved the much coveted Wye Unecessary Plastic awards. To achieve such recognition, local people must try to actively reduce the use of single use plastics in the day to day running of their business.

The organisation which run the awards, Wye Unnecessary Plastic (WyeUP), is focusing on how we can all change our shopping habits to reduce the amount of unnecessary plastic going into landfill.

The latest awards comprise of two golds, one silver and four bronze awards being achieved.

Restaurant No 3 and Leonard’s at 39, both belonging to Darren Leonard, have been awarded a gold for their reduction in single use plastic use.

Glewstone Court, which is owned by Amy Homewood, has achieved a silver award. In addition to this, bronze awards have been given to Yaks & Yetis, the Gurkka restaurant, Mandy Price’s Mandy Moo’s Cafe, the Sandwich Bar and Coffee Shop, owned by Becky Malsom, and the Red Lion, which is owned by Kath Rapson.
