A ROSS-ON-WYE care home has presented a £1,000 cheque to a local group supporting women and children rebuilding their lives after abusive relationships.

Ross Court Care Home welcomed representatives from Honour Thy Woman to its garden for a small gathering marking the award, which will support the group’s Nature to Nurture programme.

Honour Thy Woman works to empower women and their children after they have left abusive relationships, helping them recover, rebuild their emotional wellbeing and regain confidence.

The £1,000 grant was awarded through Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, which provides funding to support older people and adults living with disabilities or mental health problems across England, Scotland and Wales.

The foundation aims to help people connect or reconnect with others in their communities, supporting projects and groups which can reduce isolation and improve wellbeing.

Keasha Kellam, founder of Honour Thy Woman, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to have received funding for our Nature to Nurture programme. It’s already making a meaningful difference, and we’re excited to continue building on this work.”

Agda-Claudia Vasilateanu, general manager at Ross Court Care Home, said the home was pleased to support an organisation working within the local community.

She said: “We are always keen to show as much support as we can to local charities, especially charities like this one, that bring together people of a similar background, in order to support one another, and contribute to a very supportive and welcoming community.”

Ross Court, which is run by Barchester Healthcare, provides short and long-term residential care in Ross-on-Wye.

The home also hosts a range of community-focused events throughout the year, with local residents invited to get involved.

Staff said the presentation celebrated charity work and strengthened links across the local community.
