Dear Editor,
I am writing as someone who has worked at the hospital for many years but I don’t represent the Trust with my views; they are purely personal.
The staff at the hospital will have to pay for parking each day whether we work part time or full time, we will all be paying the same. No one has complained about this as we all know that the car park here has been abused for so long, it has made it impossible to park some days anyway.
Local people use the car park to walk into town to do their shopping, there are still cars that park here for people who live locally, some overnight. The disabled parking spaces are abused, some people park and then walk into town which shocks us all but if people are approached, we are verbally abused and threatened ourselves.
The last time anyone was given a ticket or clamped for inappropriate use, meant that the drivers would come into the reception of the hospital, shouting at everyone about how unfair it all was.
This is not ‘tax through the back door’, it’s trying to stop the hospital car park being used as a public car park for anyone.
