Ross-on-Wye siblings Henry, aged 11, and Hattie, aged nine, often complain about litter, especially on their walks along the sides of roads near to their home, and by the river. Each of them say it makes them very sad to see.
Henry and Hattie had birthdays recently, and both of them asked for litter pickers. They received them recently and immediately put them into action, collecting litter from the verge along a 1/4 mile stretch of the B4521 at St Owen’s Cross, where they live.
The pair only stopped when the bin bag became too heavy, and they returned home to sort out what could be recycled.
They’ll be taking the litter pickers and a bin bag on their next walk along the river in Ross-on-Wye.
Henry and Hattie told the Ross Gazette that they cannot understand why people don’t put rubbish in the bins provided, or take it home with them. They are both worried about what will happen to wildlife if people continue disrespecting their surroundings.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
