Luke Beard, Account & Sales Director at Dawley Services in Ross-on-Wye has signed up to run the London Marathon on Sunday, April 28th to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy UK.
There were a few reasons why Luke decided he wanted to run for MD UK. One was due to MD UK being one of Dawleys clients, managing their online shop fulfilment services. Another was watching the televisin programme DIY SOS, which was filmed in Hereford, and seeing the affect that the muscle wasting condition had on a young boy. Luke told the Ross Gazette: “More needs to be done to try and find a cure.”
Since signing up the support from individuals and local businesses has been phenomenal, Leonards at 39 / No3, Richard Butler Estate agents and FOD Kettlercise are some of Luke’s shirt sponsors and Dawley Services have paid the registration fees along with covering Luke’s expenses.
“I can’t believe the amount of support I’ve received from the local community, from sponsorship, messages of support and offers of training. Roger Parckar (Managing Director at Dawleys) has been incredible with everything he has done for me to make this possible,” said Luke
To help raise more funds and to reach his target, a quiz night is being held at Ruardean Woodside Memorial Hall on Friday, February 22nd, start time 7pm. If you would like to take part you can just turn up on the night, teams of 4-6.
Luke, pictured right, has also set up a just giving page to help reach his £1,750 target.
