For over 20 years, Ross-on-Wye Lions have sponsored the Lions Clubs International Peace Poster Competition in partnership with John Kyrle High School and this year Florence Cook won the main prize. Her winning poster also won the District competition and will now be entered into the UK finals.

Prizes were awarded by Ross Lions President, Jenny, to Hollie Tuffley who came 3rd, and Sophie Allen who came second as well as to Florence. Art Teacher, Mrs Taylor, spoke about the effort that is put in by all the students in Year 8 to produce such a variety of posters.

The theme reflects peace and international understanding, it changes every year and this year it was ‘Kindness Matters’

Once again, Ross Library has a large display of posters produced by the students. The opening of the exhibition was attended by parents and students from the school as well as representatives of the town and local community.

Mr Croad, who represented Mr Griffiths, thanked the Art Department for their work, the Lions for sponsoring the competition and all they do for JKHS and the students for meeting the challenge so ably.
