The Ross Gazette received the following letter asking for help with the 2008 Poppy Appeal. We urgently need people who may be able to offer a couple of hours one evening to collect in their road or street. The Royal British Legion is a charity that supports the serving and ex Service community and their families, as well as being one of the country's largest membership organisation, they are probably best known for their role as the nations custodians of Remembrance and organisers of the annual Poppy Appeal. The Poppy Appeal last year was one of the most successful ever with the national total at £30,000,000, an increase of 15%, this reflects the publics increases concern, not only for the veterans of past conflicts, but for the welfare of those serving today and their young families. If anyone feels that they can spare a little of their time to help us in Ross On Wye with this most worthy cause, they can contact us on 01989 567426 or email [email protected]">[email protected] they will be made most welcome..
