A Ross-on-Wye primary school has been named as one of six schools receiving repair work totalling more than £800,000.

Ashfield Park Primary School will have LED lighting installed and ceilings replaced. The primary school will also have asbestos removed and all of the external lighting replaced. The entirety of the work to Ashfield Park Primary School will total £120,000 in value.

Herefordshire Council are also seeking contractors for the work on the other five primary schools, including:

£200,000 worth of work to replace and overlay a “failed” roofing system, to remove asbestos “soffits” or roof undersides, and to remove roof lights at Garway Primary School.

Work to replace “failed” roofing at Wembley High School west of Hereford is put at £250,000.

Work to replace three canopies which “are failing due to being heavily soiled”, along with decking, at Bosbury CE Primary School near Ledbury, is valued at £130,000.

Renewing roof coverings at Ewyas Harold Primary School will cost £60,000.

Improvements to drainage and replacing door and window units at Almeley Primary School near Kington is also put at £60,000.

All six jobs are currently listed on the government’s Contracts Finder service  as open for bids from contractors.

All work is set to take place throughout the summer this year.
