Three local residents, of whom two live at Ross Court Care Home, were recognised for their military service on Monday, December 9th by the Royal British Legion (RBL) who awarded them with special veterans’ badges.

Brian Auty, Michael Lines, and Peter Aston were recognised for their outstanding service by retired Lieutenant, Colonel Tim Sands, on behalf of the RBL.

Mr Auty served for nine years in the Royal Air Force in the 1960s where he made the rank of Corporal, while Mr Lines, who also joined the RAF, served three years as a senior air craftsmen. Mr Aston first served in the Royal Scots, joining as a soldier, being commissioned into the Royal Army Education Corps, retiring as a Major aged 55.See the full story in this week’s edition of the Ross Gazette, or subscribe to our online edition here
