In just a few days a team of determined employees from Ross-on-Wye based business REHAU will be heading off to take on the Three Peaks Challenge in aid of the firm’s chosen charity Scope.

The team of around 30 will join together from a variety of different REHAU departments on Friday (September 7th) and over the course of the weekend will climb the highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales.

Overall the team will walk 23 miles to reach the peaks of Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowdon. This will take two days with the walkers sleeping on the journey to the next climb.

Kevin Brain, who has worked at REHAU in Ross-on-Wye for 18 years, is one of the people taking part. He said: “I’ve always wanted to do the Three Peaks Challenge, it will be such an achievement to complete it. And having lost three stone earlier this year I’ve had a real boost and additional motivation to train towards this goal.”

REHAU Communications Coordinator Faye Tompkins is looking forward to ticking something off her bucket list – and it isn’t the first time she’s taken on a daunting task for charity, having skydived in 2015 to raise money for Prostate Cancer. Faye said: “I’m nervous about the challenge - it’s going to be a constant uphill struggle, but I’m looking forward to taking it on with the team and raising money for Scope.”

Rebecca Hazelwood is another team member from the Ross-on-Wye office taking on the peaks to raise money for Scope. She added: “The main reason I wanted to take part in the challenge was to push and challenge myself. My family and friends think I’m crazy, but it is going to benefit Scope as well as be great for me personally.”

REHAU is hoping to raise a total of £12,000 for Scope over the year and has already raised well over a third of this target, with much more pledged for those that complete the challenge.

Scope aims to make the UK a place where disabled people have equal opportunities. And by 2022, Scope aims to directly reach more than two million disabled people and their families each year with information, advice and support, as well as campaigning for equality and fairness.
