The Ross Town Plan, looking at the future for the town and surrounding districts, will be officially presented to the public, at the Annual Town Meeting of Ross Town Council, on Wednesday, April 21st. The meeting will be held at the Larruperz Centre starting at 7pm.

The Town Plan is the result of over two and a half years work by a team of volunteers as members of a special steering group. It has involved extensive research into the views of residents on what they would like to see happening in Ross in future years.

Drawing on past surveys and information, the Plan is primarily based on the results of a questionnaire distributed last year to all households in Ross.

The questionnaire drew a remarkable response of over 36 per cent—way above the normal return for a survey of this kind.

Information was also obtained from the Planning for Real sessions, which attracted a good attendance, as well as taking into account the views of a number of special interest groups.

The Plan identifies a variety of short, medium and long term objectives. It is proposed that it should be adopted as a Business Plan by the Ross Town Council.

Future progress on the Plan's implementation will be monitored by the steering group, which will continue to seek and pass on the views of residents.

The Annual Town Meeting is held to give residents a chance to raise any issues they want to be considered directly with the Ross Town councillors.

It was decided, therefore, that it would provide an ideal venue for the Town Plan details to be unveiled and opened for public debate.

Also announced at the meeting will be the winner of the Community Award for the volunteer who is considered to have done most to help the community during the past year.

There are several contenders but there is still time for other nominations for this award to be submitted to the Town Clerk at the Corn Exchange by the deadline of April l6th.
