The long awaited under 13 League Cup Final between Burghill & Tillington CC and Ross on Wye Cricket Club was finally played out on a lovely afternoon on Sunday, September 13th. (The match had been abandoned due to rain on Bank Holiday Monday.)
Burghill won the toss and elected to bat. Ross got the first breakthrough in the 5th over, off Jack Donovan's bowling (4-1-9-2), taking the wicket of opening bat, A Kemp (15), to an lbw. Then, two balls later, his replacement, J Stokes, went to a catch by Michael Donaldson with the score on 22.
The wicket of No 2, B Morgan (9), fell in the sixth over, to M Donaldson's bowling, with a superb, forward, low-level catch by Tom Porter.
O Strong (No 4) was Burghill's top batsman retiring on 31. The wicket of No 5, H Owen (3), was taken in the 12th over to Aaron Thorley and a Jack Dix catch. The Burghill batsmen tried hard to add further runs but with excellent field work by the Ross team T Jerrard (0), M. Jerrard (2), were both run out, and T Griffiths (4 not out) concluded the innings and set a total of 100 off their 20 overs.
