Bridstow Primary School pupil, Elin Winstanley, who is nine-years-old, was excited to be taking part in Children in Need, 2018. She shaved off all of her hair on Friday, November 16th, to raise as much money as possible for those in need. She is pictured with her father, Matt Winstanley.
Although when Elin initially mentioned the idea her parents needed persuading, they are both so proud that she did it and think that her new look is great.
Before she shaved her hair, Elin told the Ross Gazette: “I feel like this year I should play a part in Children in Need, so I’m going to shave my hair off. I’d like to raise as much money as possible for children who need help.”
Elin’s mother, Ali Beynon told the Ross Gazette: “It went really well. And I think she looks amazing. The support she has received has been incredible.”
Through raising awareness locally and a crowdfunding page, Elin has managed to raise over £1300 so far. She even made it onto the Chris Evans breakfast show, where he pledged to top up the donations even more.
Ali said: “Halo Ross swimming pool staff and customers have also been really supportive, with one aqua class making up £70 of the total alone. And all of the staff pupils and parents at Bridstow Primary School have been awesome. It’s been a real community effort, and children in need will be the beneficiaries!”
Elin and her family told the Ross Gazette that they would all love to say thank you to everyone.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
