The former Rosswyn Hotel, a building which once welcomed hundreds of people as it stands on one of the main entrance routes into the town, is already well on the way to becoming an attractive, lived in building once again.

After standing almost derelict for a number of years after the business closed, and then being damaged in a fire, the Drummond family have taken on the site and set about transforming it into flats and new homes.

Although there is still a great deal of work to be done; the new houses in the grounds are still just shells, the work on the flats in the hotel building is nearing completion.

Guy Drummond told the Ross Gazette that they have paid a great deal of attention to ensuring they retained the original character of the building. The team responsible for the transformation have retained many of the original features, including large fireplaces, tbeams and even panelling which was part of the original dining room.

The windows have either been replaced with sash Heritage Windows or handmade wooden windows made to match the original designs. Bespoke skirting boards and solid wooden doors all add to the character of the flats, which have one or two bedrooms.

There is still work to do, for example the original staircase is still in need of some tender loving care, but the flats will soon be ready to be placed on the market and anyone wanting a home right in the centre of town, in a period property would be well advised to take a look at the Rosswyn development.
