Dear Editor,
On behalf of the Ross-on-Wye Branch of the Royal British Legion, firstly I would like to thank you for the marvellous coverage your newspaper has given to this very important time of year when we remember all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for us all. Throughout the year you give your support to all organisations and I strongly feel that we should show our appreciation. We are very lucky to have you.
As you will see from your coverage we have made a break through with the local schools. We were delighted to have a choir from Goodrich at our Poppy Concert in October and we were joined by choirs from St Joseph’s RC Primary School and Ashfield Park Primary School at the Korean Veterans/ Chelsea Pensioners Memorial Day and of course we must not forget the wonderful Cadets, Guide and Scout Associations who always attend the Remembrance Service each year. These children represent our future and we are very proud of them and hope to continue working with them over the coming years.
On November 9th, together with our Standard Bearer, we also attended Gorsley Goff’s School for morning assembly which was a very moving experience, especially when the head teacher Mrs Atkinson read the poem “In Flanders Field”.
