MADAM, I would like to say how sad and disappointed I am that The Chase Hotel allowed Nick Griffin and the BNP to hold a fundraising function at its premises this weekend.
Having been schooled in Ross and thinking of it as my home town I have always been proud of it. To attract these sort of people is against human dignity.
The hotel, with the extra cost of security it hired in and the long term effect on its business, because hopefully people will now boycott the hotel and use other more moral venues for future functions, will feel the cost of this huge mistake for some time to come.
Will the people of Herefordshire be having to foot the cost of the massive police bill, with over 30 riot vans and hundreds of officers drafted in from England and Wales, please remember when your Council Tax bills increase in April which business added to this cost.
It was a sad weekend for the decent people of Herefordshire.
Jacqueline Tonge, Ross
Editor's note: Our journalist at the scene counted about a dozen policemen, three police vans and half a dozen private security guards.
