Madam, I am sending you a picture of a lady I believe to be either Ethel or Rose Gulliman, it was taken sometime in1930 I think. In the background is the church and a railway bridge.
This picture was taken from the home of my late mother, Margaret Witney, sometimes known as Peggy.
I hope someone will be able to recognise whereabout in Ross this picture was taken.
I am vising Ross in the next few weeks with some family I have recently been in touch with, that until nine months ago I didn't know they existed. They are coming down from Doncaster and it would be good if we could trace the former home of my maternal relatives.

Editor's note; Several readers have contacted the Ross Gazette to suggest that the Witney home was at Cawdor. Another reader told the Ross Gazette about Mr Alan Baynham who was the park superintendent in a children's park at the corner of Homs Road and opposite where the cattle market used to be, now it is a lorry park. She could remember wonderful times playing on the equipment, which included a sand pit, and said it was very forward thinking for its time. She remembers Mr Baynham as a very strict man but also very fair.
