Rosemary Rigby, President of the Ross Action Bus, is hoping the Christmas spirit will inspire someone this year to offer to help with the Friday Luncheon Club which meets at the Larruperz Centre.

Rosemary told the Ross Gazette that the committee who have provided transport and company to those attending the club for many years have now all retired. The next lunch is set to be on January 4th and there are hopes that there will be some new volunteers in place to help out and be a part of it.

Rosemary told the Ross Gazette: “The guests arrive at 12 .00pm and are gone by 2.00pm, so it is not too demanding.

“The volunteers are needed to welcome the guests and help them with their coats, serve the guests their meals and just be there to provide a friendly face and some time for a chat.”

Rosemary said that for many of those who attend it is not about the food, although that is excellent, but it is about the company and friendship, and this is what they really need and enjoy about the lunches.

Many of those attending the club are former volunteers, and Rosemary said it’s time for the next generation to step forward and offer some time to others who have helped in the past.

While many people think about volunteering during Christmas time, this is something which can be continued after the festive season has finished.

If you feel you can offer help with fetching guests, using the Ross Action Bus or by driving a private car, or at the club itself, Rosemary Rigby would be delighted to hear from you. You can contact her by calling 01981 540477.

She told the Gazette it will be terrible if anyone had to miss out on their regular catch up and delicious meal with friends due to a lack of help. It would be a wonderful Christmas gift if someone offered to help.
