MADAM, Sadly, the 'Eight Commandments' for hospital patients (Times newspaper June 17th) is necessary for some NHS Hospitals.
However, I would like to comment on my recent stay in a stroke unit in a NHS hospital: a. medical and nursing staff 100%; b. cleanliness and attention to hygiene 100% (fresh bed linen and towels everyday); c. meals of a very high standard, in both nutrition and appeal, based on a fourteen day rotating basis, with frequent provision of drinks. Every patient given a day's menu choice, with variations on request. In my ward, every patient was given care and respect beyond any reproach. My gratitude is immeasurable. The Hospital: Hereford County Wye Valley NHS Trust.
