A Gazette reader has come up with a great suggestion for a special day in Ross – a Festival of Sport and Leisure. He said:?"The town has amazing facilities and an enormous number of activities. It would be good for the clubs to have a platform for their activities and good for the community to appreciate what is on offer."
He suggests that all the various clubs and societies could put on demonstrations or offer the opportunity to 'have a go' at venues around the town. This could involve the Ropewalk, the Sports Centre and the Rowing Club as well as the usual halls and centres where they take place.
Activities featured could range from rugby to chess, fencing to war games, football to theatre, bowls to line dancing and netball to the internet. Opportunities to find out more about tennis, canoeing, climbing, rambling could all be included. The gentleman who made the suggestion is not able to organise such an event himself but thinks it could be an enormous draw for holiday makers and could bring valuable trade into the town.
What do other Gazette readers think? Would you support such an event? Email [email protected]">[email protected], comment on the website or on our facebook page.
