Members of Ross Penyard Singers were delighted to welcome Anne Parsons and Pat Dazely from the Ross Meeting Centre to a choir rehearsal on Wednesday, January 23rd, and they presented them with a cheque for £600.
This money had been raised throughout 2018 from activities such as raffles at their concerts. Ross Meeting Centre is a local service providing support for people with dementia and their carers, and can be contacted at rossmeeting [email protected].
Anne and Pat spoke briefly about what the donation would mean for the Centre. Anne said: “ The Centre is very grateful for the support received from the Ross Penyard Singers as their chosen charity for 2018.
“Their generous donation will be put to good use to extend the activities we provide at the Centre. In particular, we hope to invite Lyn from ‘Beat It Percussion ‘to come on a more regular basis to lead a percussion session which is thoroughly enjoyed by all our group.
“It is well known that music and associated activities are beneficial for maintaining social inclusion and co-ordination in people with dementia and these sessions are always eagerly anticipated and enjoyed.
This is just one example of how we will seek to use this generous donation.”
The next concert given by the Ross Penyard Singers will be held on May 25th at The Venue and will be on the theme of ‘Spring’.
The members of the choir meet once a week on a Wednesday evening (7.00-9.00pm), at Christ Church on Edde Cross Street in Ross-on-Wye. They are an inclusive, non-auditioning choir, and are always looking to welcome new members. Come along to one of their rehearsals and have a go at singing.
