A business set up to help wild birds as well as those with disabilities is going from strength to strength.
The Spread Our Wings project is part of the Ross-on-Wye based charity Enviroability. It includes and supports those with disabilities and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Harvey Sayce joined EnviroAbility in 2015 and brought with him the idea of bagging and selling locally grown bird seed, he is particularly interested in encouraging people to feed British wild birds with sustainably grown seed, which is why he developed English mix. However, the project does offer a range of seeds which will attract all kinds of birds into the garden. Harvey’s other ambition was to encourage more local people with disabilities to get involved.
Since then the project has grown and their products can be found in many places around the county. It has been available via various food assemblies and farmers’ markets and many new people from many varied backgrounds are getting involved in bagging, sales, ordering and delivering to new places.
Ross Garden Store was keen to support Harvey’s ambitions, and all those involved in the project. So this week a brand new display unit was placed in the store, stocked with a full range of products.
This is a good time to feed wild birds as natural supplies are sparse so why not visit Ross Garden Store when you next need bird seed so that you will be helping wildlife and supporting a great local cause.
