A group of John Kyrle High School pupils started a round of applause for some young visitors which turned into a standing ovation. And when this was reported on Facebook it received hundreds of ‘likes’ and lots of messages of support.
Sara Herriot, Deputy Headteacher was escorting the 18 novice hockey players from Brampton Abbotts Primary School to John Kyrle High School for a tournament. They had to walk through crowds of teenagers eating lunch in the outside lunch area.
Sara reported the moment on Facebook. She wrote,?“Sometimes this is a little daunting for our little ones but today a little group of students started a spontaneous round of applause as we walked through. Before we knew it, we were receiving a standing ovation from dozens of students. What a lovely thing to do.”
She told the Ross Gazette,?“For many this was their first experience of representing their school in a sporting competition so it was extra special to make them feel proud and important. I have been amazed at the response to my little posting.”
The posting received several messagea saying that John Kyrle High School and its students are a credit to Ross-on-Wye.
