After a strong performance and clear victory last weekend away at Cirencester, Ross entertained a youthful Cheltenham C team at home.
To say Ross dominated the game from the first to the last whistle would be an understatement they smashed 19 goals without reply in 70 minutes of hockey that was basically played within the Cheltenham half for the duration of the match.
For those of you who like your stats Ross were averaging a goal roughly every 3 ½ half minutes and if it wasn't for some inspired goal keeping by the Cheltenham keeper who despite conceding 19 goals pulled off a string of fantastic saves coupled with some shocking finishing at times by Ross the score could have been a lot higher.
Adrian Williams continued his electrifying start to the season following up on the four goals he scored last week by scoring another nine goals he constantly terrorised the Cheltenham defence all game showing age is only a number. Captain magnificent Tom Walton again led from the front showing drive and determination in the midfield scoring four goals, he was supported by his central midfield partner Jamie Caulfield who also bagged himself two goals.
Kristian Franklin also added another goal to take his tally for the season to two goals in two games.
Phil Evans at times resembled the big bad wolf in the three little pigs trying to blow down the brick house. He huffed and he puffed and he was denied on numerous occasions by the Cheltenham Keeper but they say good things come to those who wait and he eventually found the net 14 minutes from time with a well struck shot.
But as everyone knows a good team is built on strong foundations and this clearly highlighted by the Ross defence who are yet to concede a goal this season and ensured that Cheltenham didn't manage to muster one shot on Andrew Ridgway's goal in the entire game.
Arguably also the two Ross centre backs have put in early contenders for goal of the season.
Sam Warner's effort was a joy to watch he took the ball out of defence and ran with pace , skill and conviction skinning several Cheltenham defenders before releasing a vicious shot from the top of the "D" that rocketed into the bottom corner of the goal.
While his central defensive partner Luke Ward, who is better known for stopping goals, showed his ability in front of goal. After picking up the ball in the Cheltenham "D" after a passage of play where Ross strung over 30 passes together, Ward showed fantastic composure.
He kept dragging the ball back and around the on rushing keeper before flicking the ball into the roof of the net leaving the three Cheltenham defenders on line no chance of stopping the effort. He then showed great humility in his celebration considering he doesn't score that often.
Next week Ross travel away full of confidence to face Leominster A in a midday push back.
