A MIXED media artist has joined disability equality charity Scope’s Disabled Artists Collection being sold at the Ross-on-Wye charity shop.
Artist Sue Trickey, debuts with her butterfly meadow work and explains that she is partially deaf and is a carer for her disabled husband.
Sue said: “I’ve encountered my fair share of challenges, but I get a lot of peace and joy creating detailed pieces that sometimes take me up to six months to finish.
“My inspirations for art come from the beauty of nature, my faith and experiences of life. I never quite know what will inspire me to create my next artwork.
“For my Scope commission I was inspired by a beautiful wildflower meadow planted by my brother at a cemetery in Gloucestershire.
“I spent many hours in the open air while working on this design and I hope something of the beauty and peace of the place comes through.
“I was so proud to see my artwork coming alive on the shelves at the store in Ross. The team created a beautiful display.
“I’ve been so grateful for this opportunity and initially wondered if I could achieve a good enough design. I think the products look great.”
Erica Pollard, Scope charity shop manager in Ross, said: “When our team unpacked the boxes and saw Sue’s products, it took all our breaths away.
“The design is phenomenal. We’d seen it on paperwork but seeing how stunning it actually is on the products, was such a lovely surprise.
“We aren’t the only ones who are fans of the range. Customers always smile when they see it saying it really reminds them of spring.
“Best of all for Scope, the range is flying out of the shop and new stock has been ordered. All the profits ensure the charity can support disabled people and create an equal future.”
