THE?local charity which helps families who need a bit of support at challenging times is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year.
To help celebrate this milestone for Home-Start Herefordshire, Mr and Mrs Edward Clive are opening the grounds of Whitfield Estate, Wormbridge for two special fundraising walks.
There will be a five kilometre or a ten kilometre circular walk through the beautiful grounds of the Whitfield Estate on May 17th. All proceeds will go to Home-Start Herefordshire.
Home-Start Herefordshire believes that parents play the key role in creating a secure childhood for their children. It’s just sometimes they need a bit of help.
Reasons for giving support are varied: isolation, domestic abuse, multiple births, child’s behaviour, school attainment, mental illness, self esteem, disability and many more.
Last year the charity supported 208 Herefordshire families. This would not have been possible without the help of home-visiting volunteers. These wonderful people visit families at home, giving support to help them overcome a multitude of difficult situations. Volunteers tend to be parents or have parenting experience and are both male and female volunteers of all ages and from all backgrounds. Some choose to train to volunteer as mentors and others may be experienced in specific fields and offer their support in different ways.
You will soon be able to book tickets for the walks on line at https://mydonate.bt.com/charity
