MADAM, I would like to comment on the letter from Rachel Bushell, who has done a straw poll of various people including blood donors and dog walkers, of which I and several of my colleagues are. None of us have been asked what we think of Tesco coming to Ross. We need competition from a supermarket we can all afford to shop at. Waitrose is expensive and would not do well in Ross. We would welcome Tesco. Waitrose, like Sainsbury's, would be empty.

MADAM, I couldn't agree more with Rachel Bushell's letter from last week. A Tesco store will not add anything to Ross as a shopping destination; there's already one in Ledbury, so people there won't come here.
A Waitrose store would give Ross a much improved and diverse shopping experience which would bring in people from surrounding towns. The price check agreement is compelling, and means that Waitrose could provide all the branded products at Tesco prices.
Tescos are beatable in the planning stages, it happened recently in Bristol and we can make it happen here too.
Daniel Thomas, Ross
