The committee of the Tudorville and District Community Centre (TDCC) has announced that the Big Lottery Fund is going to be supporting further developments at the Centre at Tudorville.

The £97,171 grant comes in two parts. The first will enable the construction of a new larger and fully equipped kitchen and a new private meeting room. The improvements will allow two user groups to use the Centre at once, increasing the capacity of the Centre.

The second part of the grant will pay for a part time worker who will consult with local people to find out what additional activities they would like to be available at their Centre. The Activities Coordinator will organise the new courses and events as well as find funding to work with other organisations to better provide what local people want and need.

Treasurer of the TDCC, Michelle Kings, explained how the Big Lottery Fund is helping to move the TDCC to another level. She said: "We've proved that Tudorville needed a community centre and we've proved that the volunteers from Tudorville can run the centre for the benefit of all those in the community.

This funding will mean we can not only further improve the building but also provide services and activities that haven't been available in Tudorville"The works are planned to be carried out later in the summer with the new activities rolling out in 2014.
