The management of the Chase Hotel has sent the following statement to The Ross Gazette:
The Chase Hotel wishes to clarify the details concerning the event that took place at the hotel this weekend.
The hotel was approached by a private individual to host a dinner in celebration of Trafalgar Day.
This was confirmed as an annual event but no reference was made to either the Trafalgar Club or the BNP.
It was not until Thursday, October 22nd, that the hotel management became aware that this event was in fact related to the BNP. West Mercia Constabulary were informed of this fact immediately.
Having taken legal advice we were informed that we had a contract in law with the organisers and as such must honour the booking. Contingency plans were then put in place to deal with the arising situation.
We regret any inconvenience that this event has caused our patrons and local residents of Ross-on-Wye and District.
